The after COVID, what about reservations?
After three months at an historic low, bookings for camping stays recorded new records in June ... But positive this time. However, we are still far from catching up on the backlog accumulated over the season, set at -20%, according to the monthly barometer of online booking Sequoiasoft.
-20% : this is the level of online booking for the season, stopped at the end of June, compared to the same period in 2019. For the record, after being very positive until mid-February (+ 15%), the market then collapsed to reach seasonal cumulation: -8% at the end of March; -24% at the end of April and -30% at the end of May.
+46% : The explosive evolution of reservations in June, compared to 2019. In total, the month recorded 205,000 reservations, with a peak at 8,721 one-day reservations.
+85% : the increase in turnover over the month of June, which reached 140 million euros. Another record for this month of June, which is also explained by larger baskets than usual since they only concern the high season and longer stays: € 991 in rental accommodation (+ 18%); € 462 bare pitch (+ 16.5%)
380 000 : the colossal figure of the cancellations of stay recorded between the beginning of April and the end of June 2020. Small nuance in this black balance sheet, a part of these cancellations gave place to replacement stays.
81% : the share of French people in total bookings recorded in June 2020. This is 11 points more than what was recorded at the same time in 2019.
The Dutch (5%), the Belgians (5%) and the Germans (4%) follow. The English represent only 1% of the market this month.
Malgré la crise sanitaire liée au COVID-19, le secteur de l’HPA a réussi à très vite se relancer. Ces chiffres sont en effet très encourageants pour les semaines et mois à venir.
The French never intended to give up their summer vacation, and the numbers prove it. Maintaining a good pricing policy and ensuring competitive intelligence is more than ever a necessity.
